WEBJun 21, 2017 · I assumed the loss of the port was why newer games used the Ethernet adaptor for networking. Both of my consoles are SCPH-39003 which luckily appears to be the last UK model before they removed the port. I'm interested to see how far I can get on a £2 i.LINK cable instead of shelling out for another network adaptor...

WEBPlease watch, as I put a fair bit of effort into this video, but TLDR it’s called an iLink port although really it’s a FireWire port. You can link Fat PS2s to get for link up games (Gran Turismo, Time Crisis, Etc).

WEBJun 20, 2018 · The PS2 port came out in 2001, and the network adapter wasn't released until Final Fantasy XI came out, which was sometime in 2002 IIRC. I have a SCPH-39001 with the i.Link port (which is Sony's name for Firewire, labeled S400 on the front of the unit) but my SCPH-50001 does not.
