Regardless, it also doesn't state that it uses a spell slot, which is the real restriction on whether or not you could cast another spell (as Thomas Markov's answer shows).

WEBSpiritual Weapon is a BA spell that you may use the same turn. Smite spells are BA that you can immediately gain from the same turn. Flame Blade is a BA spell that you can attack with the same turn. The point is there are many Bonus Actions in 5e that are immediately implementable and your DM needs to chill.
