A haunting shell of a building. A visual reminder of what happened in a blink of an eye here and the months and years that followed. It is easy to find at the end of the peace park. And I felt the a… Full review by Kerry G

The bomb dropped pretty much right here at 8:15 a.m. on 6 August 1945, and somehow a guy in the basement of the building survived. Holy cow. There were 37 people working in the building and everybody… Full review by 335rikt

Hello, I will be in Kyoto for 4 days Sat to Wed in May and plan to do a day trip of Hiroshima as I will be having JR pass. I believe few sites in Kyoto are closed on Monday. So I was thinking of planning Monday for Hiroshima and near by places. Any advice on doing it on any other day?

Hiroshima has plenty of places for sight seeing. Other than the Atomic Dome and Park, there are other places you can go. Their shopping district is good. I personally like it as it it's sheltered and you can walk and window shop the long stretch. Since you have JR pass, take the express train to miyajima and then transfer to the ferry to go to miyajima island to visit the shrine and the floating Torii Gate. You can also see many deeds too. If you have time climb up Mount Misen either by cable car or trek up. The view at the top is amazing. Then on the way back, u can try the grilled oyster and fried curry donuts. Heavenly.
What are the opening hours of the Atomic Bomb dome? Weekend of 17th to 19th December.

It is in an open park so it is always open. The whole park has various places within it, one site being the Atomic Bomb some. the museums keep open and closing hours. Hope this helps.
