Can we arrive pre-dusk and explore and then attend the opera? Would you say this rates in interest as the Colosseum? We may skip that due to crowds and the unavailability of skip the line tickets unless we pay a lot from a third party. Going in a week and a half for reference!

When we (myself and 14 year old grandson) did both places, he felt the Colosseum was the most worthwhile attraction in Rome because of the historical significance. For the pure "wow" factor, he loved the Baths with the Virtual Reality Googles. As others have suggested, if the official Coopculture tours are fully booked, then book a private tour to see both the underground and Belvedere (upper level) to get the most out of the experience.
