The road back turns into an ATV path almost but we had a Ram truck and even then it’s a good hour off the main road. Very hard to navigate with the many curves you can’t see around BUT they sell Tsh… Full review by lwatsonCeresco

We love seeing lighthouses but until today haven't had the opportunity to go inside one. Today was amazing and we recommend it. The beach is also very nice. Full review by Connie B

This place is beautiful. Been coming here for many years, long before the road was much more than a track for ATVs. It's great to see the restoration that has been done. For a while it seemed the … Full review by Steven F

You can look at ATV maps on the Michigan Dept of Natural Resources web site. Don’t think you’d be able to go from Newberry to the lighthouse. But you could trailer them to parking areas on Luce County Rd 500 and go from there.
Did you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle or just a regular sedan?

We were in a standard minivan and did just fine. Rough road just makes you take it slow. I think after hard rains or early/late in the season would change things a bit. If it gets too hairy just turn around but they are doing a lot to keep the roads in as good a shape as they can. Enjoy
What type of vehicle did you drive to get to Crisp Point? Would my family van - Dodge Caravan - be OK to drive the road? Any road damage due to the recent rains/flooding in the UP? Is the lighthouse open every day?

I notice in one of your other reviews you stated that your car got stuck. did it get stuck on one of the roads leading to the Lighthouse?

I wasn't the stuck car review either. We went in a small rental car 3 weeks ago, and had no issues. You have to go slowly because it has ruts and high spots. If you are the driver you must be paying attention all the time. (As the passenger I helped him see some of the ruts) it had not rained in the last 2 days before we went, so we didn't encounter mud. I think within one mile you would notice if the road was too muddy and turn around. We loved climbing the lighthouse and searching the beach for agates. With the effort.
This looks like a lovely lighthouse to visit, but I am a little concerned about the road to get there. Is there an alternative route? We have a van, is this a suitable vehicle to navigate the road without doing any damage?

Hi. Yes you will be able to get there. It is worth the trip, too. The van will get dusty as the roads are Forest Service roads. I'd trust the Crisp Point Lighthouse volunteers recommended route. Google Maps had us 4-wheeling and eventually led to a washout. Have fun!
