Various trails good for bikes, horses or walking. We walked the .3 mile to the bridge to overlook the river. SUCH a significant site leading to the end of the war. Full review by pbr2007

This trail is long so plan your hike to carry a good amount of water or do a bike trip but still carry water. I did the section starting at Camp Paradise and crossed the old railroad section of the t… Full review by rockdoctor48

We had a wonderful time on this trail! A perfect cool fall day to walk 4 miles. Quite a few bikers out but everyone was considerate of those of us walking. Full review by kareneb2021
We will be visiting High Bridge 3/30 and wondering if the Camp Paradise entrance is open. I had read somewhere the road was closed. We are visiting as part of our Civil War tour, as my husband's great grandfather fought in the battle of High Bridge. We need the shortest path to the bridge, as we cannot hike long distances... thanks!

There is very little "scenery" on this trail. As you note the bridge, of course, offers broad vistas but on the rest of the trail (except for the towns) you will get a closeup view of many many trees. All of the trail has great surface for biking or walking. There is a side trail from Camp Paradise to down below the bridge which is about an hour hike and lets you get close to the river and to old and new bridge supports. About 2 miles east of Farmville, there is also a mountain biking trail that is fairly challenging. Have fun
Does anyone know of a company running a shuttle service from one end to the other? We would like to bike the whole trail starting in Farmville but we will not be able to do 60 miles round trip.
A:
The local bike shop on the trail in downtown a Farmville would be your best resource... not sure if such a shuttle service exists.
