Hormuz Island, also spelled Hormoz, Ormoz, Ormuz or Ormus, is an Iranian island in the Persian Gulf. Hormuz Island has an area of 42 km². Located in the Strait of Hormuz, 8 km off the Iranian coast, the island is part of Hormozgan Province. It is sparsely inhabited, but some development has taken place since the late 20th century.
