There is a computer app called "Leaf Peepr" (their spelling). If you rate the color of the leaves in your area, they let you see a map of every county in the U.S. color coded to the average of the ratings by people in each area. It only gives the average for the county and local conditions within a county may vary a lot, but it gives you an idea of how much fall color is in any place (at that time) that you might want to go. The map changes every day as it is updated and you must enter your new rating in order to see the map.

Q:
I was thinking of coming to see the Blackhawk Statute this weekend (June 10 2016) is it still under a tarp and/or construction? Thank you.
A:
I am pretty sure still under a tarp, I would try calling Lowden State Park at 1-815-752-6828 to find out how much longer the repairs will be.
Q:
Is the statue under construction?
A:
Yes, its completely covered by a green mesh tarp and scaffolding.
Q:
Is the statue still covered with a tarp?
A:
Yes. It now has a dark black plastic cover held down by many ropes.
