When we went to temp was mid 30's, it was just too hot to stay there long. There is lots to walk around and see and information boards located around the site. Nice cafe and shop on site. Full review by Goolia2772

Amazing to see such ancient ruins and try and get your head around just how old they all are. However we did find the information boards confusing as it was very hard to imagine what areas actually… Full review by KatieSmithExplores

Old ancient palace. Ruins. Have to imagine. Nice surrounding view. 45 min to visit. One part (down) was not open but could see from above Full review by 610aurelienh

No,you can t hire any guides on side. At least not until now. There are books you can buy and the personal is very friendly and very informed for some question.
Hi. We will be staying in Herakleon. So how far is Phaistos from there? Is there transportation to and from? or if a car rental is easier, is it possible to rent for a day? any recommendations. Sorry for the many questions, I am trying to plan my time there. Thank you

There is a Public Bus stop right outside of the entrance to Phaistos. Probably at least one hour by car from Heraklion. If you do travel by car - go to the nearby Roman site of Agia …

What kind of transportation (to/from) is available from Herakleon, fro example? How long does it take to get there? and lastly, is there a cafe, toilets etc?

You can rent a car. If you are for example 4 it is really worth it. There are toilets and a shop there.
