As the main gallery of a major city, not impressed at all. NO European arts at all or other Asian arts on permanent display. And also very expensive tickets Full review by Michael C

The worst museum I’ve ever visited. It’s hard to believe this is the flagship museum of a major city. There is no permanent collection, and none of the art works are more than about 10 years old. The… Full review by Steven A

Very disappointing for a large space in a city as big as Vancouver. Three exhibitions covered a large space and offered very little. As a Canadian expat visiting from Australia I found it a bit embar… Full review by Nomad14841784757

Why is so little of the gallery open to the public? For $24, I expected more than half a floor of cartoons and a few Emily Carr sketches and paintings. According to reviews I have been reading, the second floor has been closed for a long time, as it was today. If you have less than half your building open, at least reduce your admission. Worst gallery visit ever.

As a visitor to Vancouver, who has toured literally hundreds of galleries all over the world, and is a supporter of my local galleries and museums. I have to answer those of you critics of my query. As you can see, many others agree with me. Some have even stopped supporting VAG, because apparently the problems are chronic. The current exhibits are meagre, overpriced and not worth the pirce of admission. Add to that, a bad attitude from gallery staff, some of whom, I suspect, are the negators in these answers. Must be hard to work in such a place, but that is no excuse to visit your deep unhappiness and condescension on people who pay your wages.
Yes, it is on the second floor (access is via a separate staircase on the western side of the gallery) and the food is varied, quite good and in a most pleasant setting. Enjoy yourselves.

The cafe is actually quite lovely. It is very popular during lunch time. It is situated in the second floor. They have a good selection of sandwiches, fresh made salads, soups, and an array of pastries and desserts. There is a fine range of beverages, from iced tea to lattes and wine and beer as well. Very pretty seating area on the terrace.
