We are planning to visit the Drakensburg Mountains and surrounding area in January. We are planning to stay 4 days/3nights. What area would you recommend us to stay as a base for this area?

We have found Champagne Castle Hotel or Champagne Sports hotel good places in that order. Avoid Drakensberg Sun hotel at it really is very commercial. In peak season in school …

In peak season in school holidays you will need to book in advance. I would recommend the Raptor display as really a good outing. It is a very scenic valley and if you enjoy walking some excellent day walks Enjoy
interesting but why do some ppl commenting their hiking took only 4 hours! comparing to record and hight it should be like few days! Could you clarify as I'm planning for it but it's not clear!

Hi Faten, this would likely be referring to a walk from the hotel, which is already at quite an altitude.
