A great example of his work. The tour was excellent and you can take as many pictures as you would like to, unlike other FLW homes. Full review by nashtonA1

Questions & answers

Q:
Is there a place to store luggage during the tour?
A:
Yes. There are locked storage areas where luggage and back packs can be stored.
Q:
How long does the Home and Studio Tour take?
A:
A couple hours to really experience inside and out ..... I would allow.
Q:
Is there sufficient Street parking?
A:
Yes, we visited on a Saturday morning of a holiday weekend and no issues. As the day got later was much harder to find parking. Visit in the morning is my suggestion!
Q:
How to get to the home from Chicago on public transportation

Hi, I was wondering the best time to buy tickets for the FLW combination tour PLUS, getting there from downtown Chicago, on the Green Line. I see it's easy to get the green line, but my concern is how much time should I allow for the trip on the train PLUS walking. I am also confused as to which is the best station to get off. I was hoping you could give me some tips, since you were there recently. Thank you very much! It sounds marvelous.

Hi - we bought our tickets online the day before and booked them for 11:30 and just did the Home and Studio-Guided Interior Tour. We caught the green line to Oak Park - I think we got on at Clark/Lake. We were staying over by Lincoln Park so had to travel into town first to pick up the green line. I think we allowed about an hour on the train and then another 15 to 20 mins to walk to the FLW House. We arrived in plenty of time. I would recommend getting the tickets ahead of time to make sure you have the time slot you want. Trains run fairly regularly but it's still worth allowing more rather than less time to get there. You can always have a coffee when you arrive if you have too much time. There isn't a cafe at the FLW itself, just a machine where you can get cold drinks so if you do arrive early get a drink in town first. I hope that helps.
