Hi Joel, There are a few requirements to flying drones on our property. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires all drone owners to register each drone weighing between .55lbs and 55lbs, so we would ask for your registration number for recreational drones. For commercial drones, we ask for your pilot certification number as well as insurance information, especially if the drone is heavier than 55lbs. You will also need to check in either at the parking booth or at the office so that we can record your information and give you a permission card. This check-in system allows us to keep track of who is flying in the tulip field. Lastly, there are certain times of day we can’t allow drones to be flown due to crowds. For Friday, Saturday and Sunday flying, drone users will need an early morning or season pass and fly outside of normal hours (before 8am, or after 7pm). This is due to weekend crowds. During the week, flying has similar hours but depends on the number of people in the fields on a given day, so please call ahead. To recap: 1. Check in at the parking booth or office to leave your name & FFA registration number 2. They will give you a permission card to keep on your person while flying 3. Only certain hours are available to fly due to crowds. Thank you! Looking forward to having you out to visit.
