Duke University Hospital hopes to fully restore services by the end of Tuesday due to last week's flooding causing major problems.It happened late Thursday evening when a chilled water pipe burst, sending water and debris flowing down the hallways of Duke's emergency room.

Patients in emergency departments who are treated by physicians with a high propensity to admit those they see into the hospital are more likely to be discharged after only a short stay, suggesting a possible unnecessary admission,

A chilled water pipe used to supply heating and cooling to the building burst around midnight Dec. 26. Since then, Duke has been directing incoming ambulance patients to other hospitals in the area. Patients who arrive by their own means are being treated in unaffected areas throughout the hospital,

Duke University Hospital is still cleaning up after a water pipe inside a wall burst Thursday night. Several areas were flooded primarily on the first floor near the Emergency Department. Duke Hospital officials say some Emergency Department beds have reopened.
