Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) ordered all flags at the Texas Capitol and other state buildings be raised to full-staff for President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20. Flags across America are being flown at half-staff until Jan.

Gov. Greg Abbott said Texas continues to mourn Carter’s death but noted the federal flag code gives special importance to flying the flag on Inauguration Day.

Flags have been lowered to half-staff at many federal and public buildings across the country in honor of former President Jimmy Carter, who died Dec. 29.
