The westbound lanes of the Gandy Bridge reopened Friday morning after Hurricane Helene lashed the region. The eastbound lanes remain closed. The Howard Frankland Bridge and Courtney Campbell Causeway, as well as the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, are still closed.

FHP said the closure comes as a result of high winds and storm surges. “Motorists should seek alternate travel routes and if not absolutely necessary remain off the highways,” FHP wrote in a statement.
