The Dallas Cowboys are in search of a new head coach after the team will not be signing Mike McCarthy to a new contract, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Yet, the timing of the Cowboys' decision creates a few potential road blocks for the front office.

The Bears and Saints had interest in interviewing McCarthy, but Dallas initially rebuffed Chicago when the head coach was still under contract. The Saints did not officially request an interview, but are expected to do so now.

After a week of negotiations between Mike McCarthy and the Dallas Cowboys, McCarthy will not be on the Cowboys sidelines for the 2025 season. McCarthy went 49-25 in his five seasons in Dallas with three playoff berths, but he was unable to get the Silver and Blue back to the NFC Championship Game, let alone the Super Bowl.

The Packers are visiting the Eagles in today’s second NFL playoff game. Quarterback Jalen Hurts is playing for Philadelphia (NFC East champs at 14-3) after making it through concussion protocol. Green Bay finished 11-6 and in third place in the NFC North.
