Here's how close Salina came to setting a record with 12 inches of snow
Mick McGuire, meteorologist with the Wichita office of the National Weather Service, said the unofficial total of 12 inches snow that fell on Jan. 5 is only topped by the one-day total of 15 inches recorded on Jan. 9, 1985. He said the last time Salina had this much snow in a 24-hour period was Feb. 21, 2013, which also saw 12 inches fall.
