A source close to Ezekiel Elliott on Tuesday afternoon tells CowboysCountry.com that the two-time NFL rushing champion has requested and has been granted his release from the Dallas Cowboys.This ends his second stint in Dallas - one that lasted 15 games and is not quite a match with the glory that he brought to "America's Team'' during the better part of the two-time NFL rushing champion's career.

The Ohio State product was drafted No. 4 overall by Dallas in the 2016 NFL Draft. From 2016 to 2022, his first stint with the Cowboys, Elliott made three Pro Bowls while running for 8,262 yards, the second-most in the NFL over that period, with 80 total touchdowns, which were third-most.
