Indian markets have lost 2.3% in January 2025, marking four consecutive sessions of decline amid rising crude oil prices and foreign capital outflows. Experts recommend a balanced, diversified investment strategy focusing on growth-oriented sectors to navigate the market challenges ahead.

Adani Enterprises, Trent, and BPCL among others fell up to 6 per cent on NSE. Nifty Realty, Metal, Consumer Durables bled among sectors falling up to 6 per cent. The BSE MidCap index plunged 4.18 per cent, while the BSE SmallCap index dropped 4.03 per cent.

The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a gap-down start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 23,330 level, a discount of nearly 170 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

The Indian market closed lower on January 10 after a highly volatile session, with the Nifty falling below 23,350. The decline was driven by broad-based selling across sectors, except for IT stocks, which surged following TCS's better-than-expected Q3 results.

Benchmark indices Nifty and Sensex failed to maintain their early momentum on Friday, slipping into the red for the third consecutive session as 12 out of 13 sectoral indices saw losses, primarily due to declines in public sector banks and metals.
