Welcome to the ‘R32 EV’. In news that’ll surprise, it’s an old R32 Skyline GT-R outfitted with much electricity. And it was built because Nissan’s own team reckoned the old timer was more fun to drive than its electric products and wanted to preserve that feeling.

Here it is, then, the battery-powered reinvention of probably Nissan’s most famous car. One of Japan’s most famous cars, no less, the R32 era of Skyline GT-R. You’ll know by now that Nissan has been working on this project for a long time, determined to get every aspect exactly how desired - now we get to see the full fruits of its labour.

Whether Nissan launches its next-generation R36 GT-R with an electric powertrain remains to be seen, but the automaker has already built at least one electric GT-R. It's a conversion based on the R32-generation Skyline GT-R of the early 1990s, and it was just unveiled over the weekend at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon.
