A longtime donor who has given more than $160 million to Tulane University is the new namesake of the university’s expanding school of public health.

Tulane officials said they hope the latest gift will raise the public health school's profile. The U.S. News and World Report ranked Tulane 12th among public health schools in the country this year, behind schools such as Johns Hopkins University, Harvard University and Emory University.

Tulane names its School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine after alumna Celia Scott Weatherhead, recognizing her for giving more than $160 million to the university.
