Fallen trees are cut up waiting to be removed in downtown Shanghai. Emergency workers cleared fallen trees and other debris from Shanghai's streets after the strongest storm to hit the Chinese megacity since 1949 disrupted transport and left tens of thousands of people without power.

All flights at Shanghai's two main airports are grounded, while ferry services and over 570 passenger trains have been suspended.

The strongest storm to hit Shanghai in over 70 years made landfall on Monday, with flights canceled and highways closed as typhoon Bebinca lashed the city with strong winds and torrential rains.
