The Guardian's editor Katharine Viner has written to staff in the aftermath of Donald Trump's "upsetting" US election victory offering free counselling for those unhappy with the outcome. Viner, 53, circulated an email to employees following Trump's November 5 success in which she claimed readers would be turning to the newspaper for "hope".

The Guardian newspaper in the U.K., which has a large U.S. presence, has reminded its journalists they have access to 24/7 mental health support as part of their benefits package following Donald Trump’s election to the White House.
