Ziggy the zebra dies at a zoo after a female rhino unintentionally punctures his stomach.

The Maldon Road attraction was left "devastated" after the incident, that happened in the mixed species African habitat at about 2pm on Friday.

A female rhino named Astrid had been sparring with her son Tayo in a mixed-species enclosure when she tried to move the zebra out of the way, the zoo says.

Colchester Zoo said the rhino called Astrid had been sparring with her son Tayo when she tried to move the zebra called Ziggy out of the way.
