The app’s availability in the U.S. has been thrown into jeopardy over data privacy and national security concerns.

TikTok rejected a report Monday that the Chinese government is mulling a proposal to sell the company’s U.S. operations to billionaire Elon Musk to keep the app from being banned in America. Bloomberg first reported the idea was just one option on the table as the U.

According to Bloomberg, Chinese officials are "evaluating" this option as TikTok gets increasingly close to getting banned in the U.S. TikTok tried to fend off the ban, which goes into effect on Jan.
