At 12.50 pm, the BSE Sensex was up 305 points or 0.$0 per cent at 76,635.57. The NSE Nifty stood at 23,196.15, up 110.20 points or 0.48 per cent. In the broader market, every two stocks advanced for even one that declined.

Adani Ports, NTPC, Tata Steel, Zomato and Tata Motors were the top gainers on the Nifty. Laggards included HCL Tech, HUL, Titan Company, TCS and Ultratech Cement were the major laggards

Adani Enterprises, Trent, and BPCL among others fell up to 6 per cent on NSE. Nifty Realty, Metal, Consumer Durables bled among sectors falling up to 6 per cent. The BSE MidCap index plunged 4.18 per cent, while the BSE SmallCap index dropped 4.03 per cent.

The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a gap-up start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 23,280 level, a premium of nearly 118 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, NTPC, Hindalco and Shriram Finance were among the major gainers on the Nifty, while losers included HCL Tech, HUL, Apollo Hospitals, Titan Company and TCS. On the sectoral front,

Zomato led the Sensex losers, falling 1.75 per cent to Rs 238.75. Mahindra & Mahindra, Adani Ports, HDFC Bank, Axis Paints, Tech Mahindra, Tata Steel and ITC fell over 1 per cent each.

The S&P BSE Sensex gained 408.52 points to 76,738.53, while the NSE Nifty50 110.05 points to 23,196.00 as of 9:30 AM.

In an attempt to regain control, Bulls pushed the Sensex up by 169.62 points, or 0.22%, to 76,499.63. Likewise, Nifty 50 jumped 90.10 points, or 0.39%, to settle at 23,176.05.

The Nifty 50 ended the session with a gain of 0.35% at 23,167, while the Sensex closed at 76,500 marking a 0.22% increase from the previous close. Likewise, the Nifty Smallcap 100 index rose by 1.97% and the Nifty Midcap 100 index concluded the day with a gain of 2.
