Microsoft Corp. is forming a new engineering group that will be led by Jay Parikh, a former Meta Platforms Inc. executive who joined the company last year. Microsoft Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella announced the move today in a note to employees.

The Redmond-headquartered company has been retooling its AI divisions over the past year, hiring former Inflection CEO Mustafa Suleyman to head Microsoft AI, which oversees the company’s AI-powered Copilot organization and other consumer products. Former Inflection chief scientist Karén Simonyan also left the startup for Microsoft.
