The Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Health now bears the name of Cleveland-based philanthropist and Newcomb graduate Celia Scott Weatherhead. This is in recognition of her landmark total lifetime giving of more than $160 million in support of the university including a new gift to the school.

Sept. 18, Tulane President Mike Fitts announced the renaming of the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine after alumna Celia Scott Weatherhead during a public address at the school’s downtown campus.

Tulane officials said they hope the latest gift will raise the public health school's profile. The U.S. News and World Report ranked Tulane 12th among public health schools in the country this year, behind schools such as Johns Hopkins University, Harvard University and Emory University.
