You need to carefully remove the adaptor and fit the new 4th gen one. Notice though, that the Bose Docking stations came with a thin "ring" which fitted around some (or most) of the adaptors. Phil.

Yes, I mean a pair of Bose (Companion 2) multimedia speakers and an apple ipod docking station. I haven't tried resetting the ipod bcos it works as usual when its removed from the docking station.

Jul 17, 2023 · remove all power from the Sounddock for at least 30 seconds. This will hopefully cause the Sounddock to reset. check the dock connector on the iPod to ensure there is no fluff in the port. Do the same for the connector on the dock. restart your iPod.
