Dec 4, 2023 · Seemed cumbersome. Prefer the side ejection of my 870’s. Much easier to load one round at a time. I also don’t like the weight of the .410 BPS. However I do like the 26” barrel on the .410 BPS. Remington 870 comes with a 25” barrel while a new Mossberg 500 .410 comes with only a 24” barrel. derbyacresbob and oyeme. Reply Like.

31 posts · Joined 2011. #1 · Nov 3, 2011. I'm new here, but lurked for a couple months while deciding on a shotgun to buy. I ended up with a new BPS hunter 12 Gauge which I am quite happy with. I have shot less than 50 shells through it, but have had about 5 jams where after firing I can't move the pump to eject the spent shell.

Grab the forearm with fingertips and thumb tip and move the forearm forward a tiny bit (~1/4” to 1/3” or so) from its full open position so that you can then slip the shell past the lifter and into the chamber.

Other than the bottom ejection feature and being a pump gun,the BPS has little in common with the Ithaca. The BPS has twin-action bars, a tang safety and supposedly an entirely different action "lock-up".

This is an issue with de-lamination of the synthetic rubber product, like a cheap knife that has the same rubber finish and after a while gets sticky. Other issues, the small operating handle on the bolt required to pull bolt back for loading, etc slips out, falling out and lost.

After getting it home I stripped it down to the major assemblies b/c on closer inspection I found some areas of rust beginning and a lot of powder flakes and residue. When trying to get the trigger assembly back in it would not go.
