Mar 23, 2004 · BTW, Standing in the Shadows of Motown is a great film with some great (and some less than great) renditions of classic motown songs by modern day singers backed up by the Funk Brothers. I agree. This is a great DVD. I thought the version of 'What's Going On' with with Chaka Khan and Tom Scott was simply sublime.

Apr 5, 2008 · To chronicle a group as important and significant as the 'Funk Brothers', either in word or picture, and not include Mike Terry is a bit like producing the history of James Bond and leaving out Sean Connery. Wouldn't happen. It appears that he all but stopped playing the bari in 1967 to do mostly arranging and producing, according to the article.

I was into the guys that played jazz with a funk attitude like Brecker, Sanborn and Scott. There was one song on the album "Target" that he did with punk rock singer Lee Ving that I really liked.

Oct 30, 2020 · In the black and white picture of Mike Terry with the rest of the Funk Brothers (above) he is holding what looks to be a low Bb bari. It's doesn't appear to be a Dolnet because it has a left hand curl. If that is the case the photo is probably from 1961. I'd be interested to know what Mike's bari was prior to the Dolnet.

When you listen to one side of the stereo channel you'll hear the normal tenor sound with anormal microphone. The other channel is the pick up in the neck with an envelope filter.
