The Goeff Sturgess and Joachim Goertz book on the Borchardt and Luger Automatic Pistols continues to amaze me as one of the most thoroughly researched historically documented study of any single topic. It's expensive and worth every pfennig.

Mar 27, 2016 · I am enthused because it is a pre war Luger P08 that is in excellent condition with 95% condition of finish. Oh yes, it has dark wooden checkered grips and fixed sights. The front sight does not have that little hook in the back part of it. There is no apparent way to attach a stock. The caliber is a 7.65 Parabellum. Thanks! Bob

Feb 28, 2016 · also the barrel threaded shank length, barrel extension, and the frame are all the typical Swiss/"long frame" extra 2mm length, for both the luger Swiss straight front frame or the P08 style frame the Swiss MP model trigger is sort of back half of a typical luger just fyi as some of these MP parts show up from time to time good luck with project !

Jan 22, 2022 · Take photos with the Luger on a darker background and it won't show the finish as being so dark. The suffix is a 'c'... so the full serial# is 76xxc. German military contract Luger serial #'s started each year with #1 to 10000 with no suffix, then 1a - 10000a, 1b -10000b, 1c- and so on. Yours was 376xx Luger made that year for the German military.

Mar 29, 2011 · I had trouble finding p08 specific 9mm recipes on the net, so I've been experimenting for awhile (A lot of factory ammo simply does not feed well in my luger). 3.5 gr of Bullseye pushing a 125 gr lead cast bullet made from wheel weights with an OAL of 1.14" did the trick (1.144 +/- 0.001" to be exact).

Apr 17, 2021 · Your Luger is likely unit marked for the police agency in Potsdam district after WW-I. The "1920" is a Weimar Republic property mark. Your Luger started as a WW-I military pistol. The 2/1001 mark is a concealment code of the Ernst Thalmann organization, making these high quality milled magazines after WW-II in the Haenel plant in Suhl.

May 5, 2020 · Your Luger looks like it was refinished. This and the mixed parts make it a "shooter" Luger. If it's in 7.65 (.30) Luger caliber rather than 9mm, these have less market demand. As a refinished Luger my estimate of value would be $650 or so. We have a rather complete Luger FAQ document published on this site.
