Probably 90% of all shortened barrels on shotguns are done with a hacksaw and this method is probably the safest and surest method if you want an open bore shotgun.

Oct 21, 2005 · Take a small piece of 0000 steel wool and saturate with oil and place it in the gap between the barrels pushing it down about 1/8 inch below the muzzle. Throughly clean any oil from the sides of the barrel and apply some flux. Lightly apply just enough heat to melt some solder to fill the hole.

Barrels were 26," 28" and 30". 26" barrels were IC & M, 28" barrels were M & F (also IC & M in 12ga), 30" barrels were only offered in F & M in 12ga. The 12ga weighed about 7 1/2 pounds.
