Mar 16, 2015 · If possible mill out that broken piece through the case. Then weld up the bushing on the outside. Then weld up the inside. Remember aluminum welding with a spool gun is not like steel. You must move fast and find the proper travel speed. Travel speed will go from slow to fast very quickly. Or the weld pool will be on the floor. kevin

Jun 1, 2010 · In two words "cheater lens". This is a low power magnifying lens which clips into the helmet behind the autodarkening lens and will allow you to see the weld better. Try a 1.5 or 2.0 power to start with. The lenses are available at welding supply stores etc. Only a few bucks. Ken

Dec 24, 2020 · You need to use twice the tip to joint distance over short-arc. I'd get spatter if I was too close to the weld pool. Short arc spatters because you're jamming wire into a molten pool of metal. Pulse doesn't spatter because the wire is supposed to melt in the air and only droplets of molten metal feed into the weld pool.
