About us - Rainforest Rescue
Our team. Rainforest Rescue (Rettet den Regenwald e.V.) has been campaigning for the protection of the last rainforests worldwide for 34 years. We are a non-profit association is based in Hamburg, Germany (register of associations: Hamburg District Court VR 11790). We are independent of governments and political parties.

To put these figures into perspective, the forests of the temperate climate zones account for 47 Gt C and the boreal forests 54 Gt C. Peat bogs and tropical peat bog forests. Humus layers of soils are particularly rich in carbon.

Climate and the rainforest – a Rainforest Rescue position paper
Rainforest Rescue demands related to climate protection. We must fight the loss of biodiversity and catastrophic climate change at the same time. Prioritizing either crisis over the other is dangerous. Climate protection efforts must not be so uncompromising as to push dealing with the extinction crisis into a subordinate role.

The amaZOOnico wildlife sanctuary in the Ecuadorian rainforest cares for wild animals confiscated by the authorities and prepares them for release into the wild. We support the release of white-bellied spider monkeys and Brazilian giant tortoises and enrichment of the 1,750-hectare Selva Viva protected forest with fruit trees.
