Chapter 1: Beginning to Read Plans. A civil engineer’s scale has divisions of 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 to the inch. An architect’s (or mechanical engineer’s) scale expresses scale as fraction of an inch to one foot. Sample scales would be 1/4” = one foot, 3/8” = 1 foot, 1/8” = 1 foot, or similar.

Aug 4, 2021 · The state DOT used sheet #3 as the first plan sheet. sheet #A is the road profile and Sheet #B is the cross street. Sheet 1 (and 1A) are the title sheets and SHeet #2 begins the details, E&SC notes/plan, etc. Others use AIA (C1, P1, M1, E1, A1, S1, etc) and then there is the National CAD standard.
