Built me a louver press.... and it works! | The H.A.M.B.
Oct 2, 2006 · Here are some pics of my just completed louver press. I started out with the heavy duty frame from an old Oliver jig saw that I bought for $100. I scrounged up an old two way ram with a broken end and a 12volt power unit from a lift gate. I made my own dies from tool steel with a lot of grinding and filing.

(which I am happy with considering the kit sells for $1700.00 by itself) I plan to power my press with My "JD-2 Squared" tubing bender Pump. I also have One of Dave Williams Low buck "Stan Betz style" Manual press.

Apr 25, 2013 · My pal Moe Miller bought the old louver press from Jerry (J&J Customs) in San Jose in 1978. This press frame was fabricated from 1/4" steel plate, in a large 'C' shape, looked like a huge micrometer standing on its spool. It was old when my Mom had Jerry punch the hood of her '48 Cadillac in 1955!

I knew I wouldn’t have the capacity or space for a full size press, so I was very excited to see someone get such respectable results with a stamp and die, and I’m guilty of thinking if I can do about anything I set my mind too. And yessir I would cut a slot first then line up the stamp/die and bring the hammer down. Thank you

Jan 28, 2021 · At one time Eastwood offered a set of dies that would make louvers of any length, including curved louvers, these dies were installed on a bead roller, the first set to slit the louver, then the dies were changed to the second set which "formed" the shape of the louver. This is a possibility but the louvers it made didn't look right.

Chris Davenport now owns salt flats speed shop in Orem Utah, He built a 40 willys Coupe from aluminum when he was a student at UVU. I heard that He modified the college press so he could do the roof for a 32 sedan.
