Put the +2 on con and have a permant 17 ac without worring about the non-metal armor requirement. If you can wear metal armor, consider picking up one level of life cleric at level 2. Pick a Hill Dwarf as you race, so you can use that heavy armor and shield, have a bonus to all your healing and extra hitpoints.
