I am plotting logarithmic permeability (x-axis) vs. depth (y-axis). Apparently Excel cannot plot zeros on a log scale simply because the logarithm of zero is undefined (correct?). Here's my problem.

Well, I've tried just selecting the optical density, predicted cell number, and actual cell number columns (with titles, columns listed in that order) and clicking the "Smooth Marked Scatter" chart option, which, as you predicted, automatically makes OD my x-axis.
