Kerbside recycling has arrived | southhams-today.co.uk
Nov 8, 2023 · Changes are coming to the recycling and food waste collection service in the South Hams from 20th November. The upcoming changes will mean that everyone is on the same service, using kerbside boxes, a white reusable sack and food waste caddy to present their recycling each week.

"More second homes than social houses" claim as council tax rises
Cllr Dan Thomas (Lib Dem, Newton and Yealmpton) said there are villages in his area where more than half of the homes are second homes. And, he added: “There is nothing sadder than standing in one of the villages in my ward and looking out over another to see it dark.”

Chair of Bickley Parish Council Brian Hill said: “It seems excessive, but it's been in the planning for a long, long time so it's no great surprise to some, but it is obviously a big shock and surprise to others to see 2,000 homes, which more than doubles the size of Woolwell as it is, without necessarily the rest of the infrastructure in place to support that.

Housing Crisis declared by South Hams District Council
The District is reassuring residents that it does have a five-year supply of land for housing and adopted Joint Local Plan with Plymouth and West Devon, and an adopted Housing Strategy that they consulted on last year, but local leaders say that due to recent events, there is just not enough properties for local people and those people wanting to work in the District.
