Been riding the roads in/around Austin for 35 years. And yes, a LOT has changed here but it’s still great. I get asked all the time: “Where should I ride?” While the options aren’t the same as 3 decades ago there’s still options. Pro tip: Use Strava’s heat map to see where other cyclists are choosing to ride. They are absolutely picking roads and routes that have LESS traffic. I know all the cool kids are riding and racing gravel now. This old dog’s racing days are behind him but I still love to pedal. And I travel a ton. When I do, I almost exclusively bring my gravel bike. Rides just fine — in fact great — on the pavement. And, not always being familiar with where I’m heading, I can always ‘explore’ a little. Great to finally get the mountain bike dusted off this season.And what better place to start off than NWA (Northwest Arkansas)?! Arguably the mountain bike capital of the world.
